My real journey started when I entered the work environment. I began as a learner specialising in factory automation, and I soon realized that I wanted more out of life. I was the square peg in the round hole. Over the next 20 years, I worked hard at learning all aspects of business, moving from the factory environment into sales and marketing, and eventually into management. Eventually, I became the General Manager for one of the largest multinational electrical companies based in South Africa.

However, something was still missing. I knew I was destined for more, and one of my lifelong dreams was to own my own business. In 2008, that dream became a reality when I purchased my first business called Tiprow Electrical. Tiprow Electrical is a steel manufacturer that produces steel enclosures for the electrical and automation industry. I finally felt that I had arrived and achieved my lifelong ambition. The first five years in my own business were amazing. Money was flowing, and we were living the life. Until one day, the South African business environment started changing and continued to change. I suddenly found myself in an environment of slow death. Revenue was declining, cash flow was being eroded, staff started becoming a problem, clients became abusive, corporates started driving my margins down, clients started delaying payments, and the list goes on. I spent many late nights sitting on my couch, worrying about my business and my future. Trust me when I tell you things were getting desperate. The worst part was that I felt alone. My family and my staff were looking to me for solutions, and I had no one to turn to for help or guidance. My stress levels were at a record high. I had two nervous breakdowns, and my health was deteriorating. At this stage, I weighed 168 kg. When you are at that point in your life, you understand why business owners eat, drink, and smoke themselves to death. You also really start to understand why business owners take their own lives.

Early in 2016, I started to realize that I was now worth more dead than alive. I came to the realization that if I were to die, the insurance pay-outs would be enough for my family to live on for the rest of their lives. In June 2016, the opportunity for me to leave this earth had arrived, or so I thought. One evening, I became violently ill, so ill that I thought I was dying. This was such a relief. I remember saying to my maker, "I am ready, you can take me."

To my surprise and dismay, I woke up the next morning alive and well. I sat on the end of my bed and asked why. Why was my life spared? The amazing part is that I got an answer, and the answer I got was, "Your job is not finished."

My first reaction was, "What does this mean? I still have the same problems; nothing had changed." Anyway, I picked myself up and started working harder than ever. Three months later, I was no better off. In fact, things just got worse. It was at that point that I realized my skills and knowledge were no longer enough to change my situation. It was at this point, while scanning through my social media, that I came across a post by a business coach named Bert from ActionCOACH. The next day, I contacted Bert and signed up for coaching. Bert and I started working on turning my business around. Things slowly started looking up, but for me, something was still missing. The words, "Your job is not finished," kept playing in my mind.

A couple of months later, when I went to my doctor for a check-up, he informed me that if I did not change my ways, I would be dead in five years.

That's when I realized that I needed to urgently change my life. Upon reflecting on my life's journey, I realized that my purpose was to impact and change the lives of numerous other business owners and leaders who found themselves awake at 2 am, searching for a solution to their lives and their businesses.

It was at that point that I decided to change my path so that it better served my purpose. For the next two years, I worked with my coach to turn my business and my life around. On March 1st, 2019, I sold my business, started my ActionCOACH business, and had also lost 60 kg by then.

Today, I work with business owners and leaders, coaching them through the challenges they face in their businesses, with the end goal of helping them achieve their full potential.
